TEACHING
2014-2019, Lecturer, School of Liberal and Creative Arts, SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIVERSITY
DOCUMENTARY PRODUCTION
Exploration of the various methods of short form documentary film and video production. Students work
in small teams to gain experience with shooting, producing, directing, and editing.
INTRO TO MULTIMEDIA PRODUCTION
Through hands-on individual and group projects the course provides students fundamental production, conceptual, and analytical skills in digital photography, audio, video and interactive media.
VIDEO EDITING I
Introduction to the art of video post-production with an emphasis on techniques that improve both sound and image quality. Students explore a wide range of theories and practices in order to gain a better sense of how films “speak” and filmmakers translate their ideas into moving pictures.
VIDEO EDITING II
Focused on techniques and forms for short-form web video storytelling, students learn all phases of editing – how to begin an edit at the file management stage and carry it through all the way to the finished cut. Students also learned how to do basic motion graphics (titles and lower-thirds) in After Effects, audio
mastering in Adobe Audition, and how to do basic color correction in DaVinci Resolve.
2018, Podcast Producer, FINE ARTS MUSEUMS OF SAN FRANCISCO
Worked with a group of high school and college students who concepted, wrote, edited, and narrated a series of podcast episodes for the DeYoung Museum's exhibit Contemporary Muslim Fashions, the first major survey of it's kind in the West.
2017, Multimedia Instructor, YOUTH RADIO
Worked with young media makers aged 16-24 to produce several short-form photography, audio,
and video stories for this Peabody-winning multimedia organization.
2011-2013, Teaching Assistant, DUKE UNIVERSITY
DOCUMENTARY PHOTORGRAPHY
Assisted students in all phases of their semester long documentary photography projects. I worked with them individually to develop their initial ideas, provide critical feedback, enhance their Photoshop skills and professionally print on Epson printers.
THE MUSEUM INSIDE/OUT
Facilitated the digital photography and photogrammetry of medieval sculptures in the collection of the Nasher Museum of Art as students constructed 3D models and interactive maps.
